If you want to read a movie review about an elf, I'm sorry but DON'T read any farther. Because what I am going to tell you is a review on the Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. It's about woeful events that happen to the Baudelaire orphans and it all started with the fire. Ah yes the fire. What a terrible thing. But first let me introduce you to the Baudelaire children. Remember we are talking before the fire started. Violet, the oldest. (Emily Browning) Violet loves to invent things. You can always tell when Violet is inventing something because she always ties up her hair with a ribbon. Next is Klaus, the middle child. (Liam Aiken) Klaus loves to read. Why before the fire, Klaus was going to read every book in the library in their mansion. And last but not least, Sunny. Sunny is the youngest of the Baudelaire's. (Kara and Shelby Hoffman are twins and they switched on and off while making the movie) Sunny, well shall we say she likes to bite on things! Well that's enough about the children, I bet you want me to get on with the story. Like I said it all started with the fire. The Baudelaire children were on the beach at the time so they didn't know that a fire had started on their beloved mansion. It wasn't just their mansion that was burned up sadly. Their parents too were gone. So Mr. Poe (Timothy Spall) who is the banker that is encarge of the Baudelaire orphans very big fortune. Mr. Poe dropped the Baudelaire orphans off to their new guardian, Count Olaf (Jim Carrey) who really is a villain that wants the Baudelaire fortune. Count Olaf makes the Baudelaire orphans do everything! Fix the roof, scrub the floors, and do the very big stack of dishes! One time he tries to kill the Baudelaire orphans with a train! Luckily Mr. Poe sees and takes the Baudelaire children from Count Olaf and takes them to their new guardian, Montgomery, Montgomery! Or Uncle Monty for short. Uncle Monty had a reptile room that was filled with strange snakes and other creatures! The brand new one that he found, he calls it the Deadly Viper but it couldn't harm a fly! Uncle Monty wants to go to Peru so to get ready for things he hired an assistant who is Count Olaf in disguise. Now what I am going to tell you next, well I don't blame you if you still want to go back to that elf review. The next morning Uncle Monty was dead. So it was off again for the Baudelaire orphans. This time her guardian's name is or was Josephine. She was afraid of everything! She won't use the stove because she thinks when she turns it on, flame will come up, she won't use her refrigerator because it could fall and smash you flat! One day Josephine and the Baudelaire orphans go shopping and yet again, they found Count Olaf in disguise. Well I'm sorry but I cannot go any further. So if you can take all these woeful events, then you can go see the movie. But don't say that I didn't warn you! This movie was very well done. Sure it didn't have as many details in the movie as it did in the book but if you haven't read the books, then it is the perfect opportunity to read them! This movie was based off the Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. They did the first three books for the movie. They did The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room, and the Wide Window. Once I read the books I really got hooked on them and they really did the movie pretty close to the books.
